By Local Trains

Nearest station is Borivali which is situated on western line. You can get direct trains from Churchgate, Mumbai central, Dadar, Andheri etc. If you are on any other line get to Dadar or Bandra first. Get down at Borivali the entrance to the park is about a kilometre EAST from the station for which you can take an auto or walk.

By Bus

Catch a BEST bus to Borivali bus depot, the bus number will vary as per your location. The entrance is 4.5 km walk from the bus stand.

By Road (Car/Bike)

This is the best option, as early in the morning(prefered time of visiting) traffic won't be an issue. It is a huge park and if you don't want to stress your legs too much. You are allowed to take your vehicle inside with a fee i.e. Rs 37 for two wheelers Rs. 146 for four wheelers. You have to park your vehicles at designated parking lots for each activity. The places from where you start your activities can be as far as 9 km to 1.5 kms from each other for this commute your vehicle will come really handy.

How We Did It?

The journey started from Oshiwara, Mumbai at 7:00 am. Reached SGNP in 40 mins through western express highway. Made our way straight to the kanheri caves

Its a 7.6 km drive from the entrance. We reached at 8:30 am had to wait half an hour as the ticket window opens at 9:00 am . Fees? 15Rs per adult. The caves spread over huge area took us 2 hours in which we covered most of the 109 caves. MONKEYS all around...no menace was seen though.

It involved a bit of trekking but the spectacular view kept us motivated. We reached the highest point after a tiring trek...

but it was worth the view...

You can see the Global Pagoda from this point

You can actually catch a BEST bus from SGNP entrance till kanheri caves entrance.

At the Exit

Then we drove towards the point from where we caught a Safari bus. We had already bought our tickets online (link at the end).

We were lucky to see a Tiger out in the open...which is actually a rare sight here, as mostly you will get to see these wild animals in their enclosures.

And as always...Lion was sleeping

Then we chose to get a Joy Ride! Its called Van Rani (Queen of the forest). (Rs.41 per adult)

After the ride this rejuvenating sight welcomes you
