How to reach?
By Train
Gokarna Road (GOK) is the nearest station, around 10 kms away from the town. Its a petite two platform station that too where platforms are lower than regular platforms. But its surprisingly well maintained, equipped with cc TV cameras and with frequent visit by tourists its a safe platform(even for girls) to land even late at night. It is not very well connected of course as its a small town, but there are direct trains from Mumbai and Bangalore. From station after walking for around 1 km you will reach a bus stop from where you can catch a bus to the town. REMEMBER1: The bus service doesn't start before 6 am.
By Bus
Bus connectivity is better than train for this place. Plenty of buses from Mumbai and Bangalore or Goa commute on a daily basis. REMEMBER2: Book your tickets in advance same day tickets are really hard to manage. REMEMBER3: Some buses drop you at Gokarna bypass...this is not the town bus stand, you would have to catch a taxi/ bus to get to the town.
Things to do/see
A must: Trek covering all the main beaches which are...Kudle beach, Om beach, Half moon beach, Paradise Beach*
